How does Andep 50mg Tablet work?

It works by increasing the levels of serotonin, a chemical messenger in the brain. This improves mood and physical symptoms of depression and also relieves symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, and anxiety.

Indication of Andep 50mg Tablet

Andep is indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder (PD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), social anxiety disorder (SAD), and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).

Pharmacology:

Sertraline inhibits the reuptake of serotonin in the brain, leading to increased serotonin concentrations at synaptic clefts. This enhances serotonin's activity at postsynaptic receptor sites, improving depression. Its prolonged half-life allows for once-daily dosing.

Dosage & Administration of Andep 50mg Tablet

• Adults: Starting dose for MDD and OCD: 50 mg, therapeutic range: 50-200 mg. Starting dose for PD, PTSD, and SAD: 25 mg, therapeutic range: 50-200 mg.
• Pediatric Patients (6-12 years): Starting dose for OCD: 25 mg, therapeutic range: 50-200 mg.
• PMDD: Starting dosage: 50 mg/day, may be administered continuously or intermittently. Dosage adjustments may be made up to 150 mg per day for continuous dosing and up to 100 mg per day for intermittent dosing.

Take Andep 50 as advised by your doctor, either with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole and do not chew, crush, or break it. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible, but do not double the dose if it's almost time for your next scheduled dose.

Interactions:

Andep may interact with drugs highly bound to plasma proteins, such as warfarin or digitoxin. It may also interact with drugs like cimetidine, CNS-active drugs, hypoglycemic drugs, and atenolol.

Contraindications:

Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to sertraline or any excipients. Not recommended in patients with moderate to severe hepatic impairment.

Pregnancy & Lactation:

Safety during pregnancy is not established; caution is advised. Excreted in breast milk; consider discontinuation of breastfeeding if necessary.
