Urilax 200 works by relaxing muscles of the urinary bladder preventing frequent, urgent, or uncontrolled urination, and relieving associated pain.

Indication of Urilax 200mg Tablet

Urilax is a spasmolytic flavone derivative that acts by relaxing the smooth muscle in the urinary tract. It is a competitive muscarinic receptor antagonist used for the treatment of overactive bladder with symptoms of urge urinary incontinence, urgency, and urinary frequency.

Urilax is indicated for the symptomatic relief of dysuria, urgency, nocturia, suprapubic pain, frequency, and incontinence as may occur in cystitis, prostatitis, urethritis, and urethrocystitis.

Pharmacology

Flavoxate acts as a direct antagonist at muscarinic acetylcholine receptors, reducing smooth muscle tonus in the bladder. This action decreases the number of required voids, urge incontinence episodes, and severity while improving retention and facilitating increased volume per void.

Dosage & Administration of Urilax 200mg Tablet

For adults and children over 12 years of age: 100 mg to 200 mg three times a day. The dose may be reduced with the improvement of symptoms.

Before taking Flavoxate, inform your doctor if you are taking, have taken, or might take any other medicine, including prescription, non-prescription, or herbal medicine.

Contraindications

Flavoxate is contraindicated in patients with obstructive conditions such as pyloric or duodenal obstruction, obstructive intestinal lesions or ileus, achalasia, gastrointestinal hemorrhage, and obstructive uropathies of the lower urinary tract.
