Plan A Vaginal Gel is used for the prevention of pregnancy in women of reproductive age. It is an on-demand contraceptive method, to be used immediately before vaginal intercourse.
The combination of lactic acid, citric acid, and potassium bitartrate vaginal gel should be used as follows:
- Frequency of Use: Apply the gel into the vagina immediately before or up to one hour before vaginal intercourse. If you engage in vaginal intercourse more than once within an hour, apply another dose.
- Menstrual Cycle: You can use this gel at any time during your menstrual cycle. It may also be used alongside hormonal contraceptives, condoms (latex, polyurethane, or polyisoprene), or a vaginal diaphragm. Do not use it with a contraceptive vaginal ring.
- Postpartum/After Medical Events: This gel may be used after childbirth, abortion, or miscarriage, but only after your doctor confirms that it is safe to resume vaginal intercourse.
