Hypromellose is a semi-synthetic, inert, and viscoelastic polymer that acts as an artificial tear and ophthalmic lubricant. It moisturizes and protects the cornea and conjunctiva, helping reduce irritation, dryness, and discomfort caused by inadequate tear production or eyelid dysfunction.

Ophthalmic Gel

Instill 1–2 drops into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye(s) as needed.
Generally used 1–3 times daily depending on the severity of symptoms.
May be used more frequently if required.

Drug Interaction
Hydromer may be used while wearing contact lenses. However, no specific compatibility studies with lens materials are available.

Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Hypromellose or any component of the formulation or container.

Side Effects
Common side effects may include:

Temporary blurred vision
Mild burning or stinging sensation after application

Rarely reported effects include:

Redness of the eyes
Allergic reactions
Irritation after instillation

Hydromer gel with Carbomer 980 is generally well tolerated.
