Description:

Indication

It contains 25% human albumin, prepared from pooled human plasma collected from FDA-approved plasmapheresis centers. Albutein 25% is utilized to treat blood volume loss by replenishing lost body fluids due to trauma, bleeding, surgery, or kidney dialysis. It effectively addresses low blood albumin levels. Pharmacology

Human albumin increases intravascular oncotic pressure and causes the movement of fluids from interstitial into intravascular space. Human albumin solutions are available in various concentrations. Dosage & Administration of

Adult Dose:

  • Initially, 25 g of albumin, was adjusted based on patient response.
  • Usual infusion rates: 1-2 ml/minute.

Child Dose:

  • Up to 1 g/kg, adjusted based on patient response.
  • Usual infusion rates: 1-2 ml/minute.
  • Maximum limits: Not to exceed 250 g/48 hr or 6 g/kg/day.
