Description:

  • Acyclovir is an antiviral medication that belongs to a class of antiviral drugs. It is primarily used to treat various viral infections. This medication is effective in treating conditions such as cold sores (inflamed blisters in or near the mouth caused by herpes simplex virus), genital herpes (a common sexually transmitted infection characterized by genital pain and sores), herpes zoster (a viral infection causing a painful rash), and chickenpox. Acyclovir doesn't cure these viral infections but helps stop the virus from spreading and alleviates its symptoms.
  • Acyclovir contains aciclovir as its active ingredient, which acts on the DNA of the virus, preventing its multiplication within human cells and reducing the viral load.
  • When taking Acyclovir, follow your doctor's prescribed dose and duration, whether with or without food. Side effects may include temporary symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, and increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight. Most of these side effects are temporary and generally do not require medical intervention. If side effects persist, consult your doctor.
  • Only take Acyclovir as prescribed by your doctor and do not engage in self-medication or suggest this medicine to others. If you are allergic to Acyclovir, aciclovir, or any of its components, do not take it. Consult with your doctor if you are pregnant, currently breastfeeding, or using other prescribed or over-the-counter medications. Use protection during sexual intercourse to prevent the transmission of genital herpes, which is a sexually transmitted disease, to your partner. If you have a weakened immune system, inform your doctor before taking Acyclovir, as a dose adjustment may be necessary.

How does Virux Oral Suspension work?

Virux 70 ml works by preventing the multiplication of the virus in human cells. This action stops the virus from producing new viruses and ultimately helps clear up the infection.

Side Effects of Virux Oral Suspension

Possible side effects include rash, gastrointestinal disturbances, increased bilirubin and liver-related enzymes, elevated blood urea and creatinine, decreased hematological indices, headache, neurological reactions, and fatigue.

Quick Suggestions:
  • Incorporate heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids into your diet. You can find these in foods like fish, flaxseeds, and walnuts. Also, use low-fat cooking oils like olive oil, soybean oil, canola oil, and coconut oil.
  • Including turmeric or yellow mustard in your diet can help prevent constipation, a side effect of some antiviral drugs. Additionally, increase your fluid intake to stay well-hydrated.
  • Ensure you get an adequate amount of Vitamin D, either through sunlight exposure or dietary sources. Fresh air and sunlight can help improve the symptoms of herpes infection.
  • Try to minimize emotional and physical stress by spending time with family or engaging in activities that make you happy. Reducing stress can be beneficial for your overall health.
  • Consume a balanced and nutritious diet to support your overall well-being. Additionally, ensure you get at least 8 hours of sleep a day for a faster recovery.
  • If you're going out in strong sunlight, wear a lip balm with SPF 15 or higher. ACICLOVIR can make your skin sensitive to UV rays and sunlight.
Indications:

Virux Oral Suspension is indicated for the treatment of various herpes virus infections, including herpes simplex virus (types I and II) and varicella-zoster virus infections (such as herpes zoster and chickenpox). It is used for the treatment of initial and recurrent genital herpes, as well as herpes labialis (cold sores) and herpes simplex infections of the skin and mucous membranes. Additionally, it is used to prevent herpes simplex infections in immunocompromised individuals.

Pharmacology

Virux Oral Suspension contains aciclovir, which is a purine derivative that interferes with DNA synthesis, limiting viral replication. It primarily works by blocking the action of the virus-encoded thymidine kinase enzyme, which is necessary for viral DNA replication. It is transformed into its pharmacologically active form, Aciclovir Triphosphate, within virus-infected cells. Aciclovir is absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract and distributed to various body tissues. It is eliminated through the kidneys via glomerular filtration and tubular secretion.
