Dosage & Administration of Utramal 50mg Capsule

For adults with moderate to severe pain, the initial dose of immediate-release Tramadol is 25 mg taken orally every morning, and the dose can be increased by 25-50 mg/day every 3 days as separate doses up to 50-100 mg taken orally every 4-6 hours as needed, not to exceed a total daily dose of 400 mg. For acute pain, the dose is typically 50-100 mg taken orally every 4-6 hours as needed, not to exceed a total daily dose of 400 mg.
• For extended-release Tramadol, the initial dose is 100 mg taken orally once daily, and the dose can be increased by 100 mg/day every 5 days, not to exceed a total daily dose of 300 mg.
• In postoperative pain, the initial dose is typically 100 mg followed by 50 mg every 10-20 minutes as needed, to a total of 250 mg in the first hour, including the initial dose. Thereafter, the dose is 50-100 mg taken orally every 4-6 hours as needed, not to exceed a total daily dose of 600 mg.
• For children, the safety and efficacy of Tramadol have not been established in those younger than 17 years of age for extended-release formulations and younger than 18 years of age for immediate-release formulations.
• In patients with renal impairment, the dosing of Tramadol should be adjusted based on their creatinine clearance (CrCl). For those with a CrCl of 10-30 mL/min, the dosing interval should be increased to 12 hours, while Tramadol is contraindicated in patients with a CrCl of less than 10 mL/min.
