How does Orlev 500mg Tablet

Antibiotics; stop the action of a bacterial enzyme called DNA-gyrase, preventing bacterial cell division and repair.

• Common: Nausea, headache, diarrhea, insomnia, constipation, dizziness.

Indication of Orlev 500mg Tablet

• Orlev is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections, including those of the urinary tract, nose, throat, skin, soft tissues, and lungs (pneumonia).
• Stops the further growth of causative microorganisms.

Pharmacology

Levofloxacin is a third-generation synthetic broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic. It inhibits bacterial topoisomerase IV and DNA gyrase, essential for DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination. It demonstrates in vitro activity against a variety of gram-negative and gram-positive microorganisms.

Dosage & Administration of Orlev 500mg Tablet

• Tablets: 250 mg, 500 mg, or 750 mg orally every 24 hours, without regard to food.
• Oral Solution: Taken 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating.
• Injection: Administered by intravenous infusion. The dosage depends on the specific condition.

Dosage in Adults:

• Varies based on the type of infection, ranging from 500 mg once daily to 750 mg once daily for different durations.

Dosage in Children:

• Children 6 months to <5 years: 10 mg/kg every 12 hours.
• Children >5 years: 10 mg/kg every 24 hours.

How to take Orlev:

• Take as advised by your doctor.
• Swallow whole; do not chew, crush, or break.

Interaction

• Additive effects on QT interval prolongation with certain medications.
