Insulet contains two insulin components:
Regular human insulin: Provides the shorter-acting component to help control blood glucose around meals.
Isophane (NPH) insulin: Provides an intermediate-acting component to support blood glucose control between meals and overnight.
The exact action profile varies by formulation and individual response. Because Insulet is premixed insulin, meal timing and consistent administration are important.
Insulet should not be administered:
During an episode of hypoglycemia.
In patients with known hypersensitivity to human insulin or any ingredient in the formulation.
The dose must be individualized by a registered physician based on blood glucose levels, meals, physical activity, insulin sensitivity, and other medical conditions.
The required dose may change because of illness, changes in diet or activity, pregnancy, or impaired kidney or liver function. Do not calculate or adjust your dose independently.
How to administer:
Important: Never substitute another insulin brand, strength, or formulation without medical supervision.
Insulin can be used during pregnancy when medically indicated. Maintaining appropriate blood glucose control is important for maternal and fetal health. Insulin requirements may change throughout pregnancy and decrease rapidly after delivery.
Insulin treatment is generally compatible with breastfeeding, although the dose and meal plan may need adjustment. Treatment should be supervised by a healthcare professional.
Other medicines can change insulin requirements.
Medicines that may increase the glucose-lowering effect or hypoglycemia risk include:
Medicines that may increase blood glucose or insulin requirements include:
Beta-blockers may mask some warning signs of hypoglycemia. Octreotide and lanreotide may either increase or decrease insulin requirements. Inform your physician about all medicines and supplements you use.
