Seroxyn is a combination inhaler containing Salmeterol (long-acting β2-agonist) and Fluticasone Propionate (inhaled corticosteroid). It is used for:
Asthma – when regular treatment with inhaled corticosteroids alone is insufficient or when already controlled on both drugs
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
Not for relief of acute asthma attacks – use a rescue inhaler for sudden symptoms.

✔️ Dosage & Administration
Adults & Adolescents (≥12 years):
Inhaler: 2 puffs of 25 µg Salmeterol + 50/125/250 µg Fluticasone Propionate twice daily
Inhalation capsule: 50 µg Salmeterol + 100/250 µg Fluticasone twice daily; max 50/500 µg twice daily
Children (4–11 years):
2 puffs of 25 µg Salmeterol + 50 µg Fluticasone twice daily
Inhalation capsule: 50 µg Salmeterol + 100 µg Fluticasone twice daily
COPD (Adults):
50 µg Salmeterol + 250 µg Fluticasone twice daily
Important:
Use inhaler daily, even when asymptomatic
Rinse mouth after each use to prevent oral thrush
✔️ Side Effects
Common:
Tremor, headache, palpitations, throat irritation, hoarseness, oral thrush
Rare/Serious:
Cardiac arrhythmias, paradoxical bronchospasm, hypersensitivity reactions, muscle cramps
✔️ Drug Interactions
Avoid β-blockers (may reduce effect or worsen asthma)
Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole, ritonavir) may increase fluticasone exposure
✔️ Precautions & Warnings
Do not start during an asthma attack or unstable asthma
Use rescue inhaler for sudden symptoms
Paradoxical bronchospasm may occur – treat immediately
COPD patients: Increased risk of pneumonia; monitor symptoms
Long-term corticosteroid use may cause: adrenal suppression, decreased bone density, glaucoma, growth reduction in children

Low absorption into bloodstream; likely low exposure in breast milk
