Mirogabalin selectively binds to the α2δ subunits of voltage-gated calcium channels (VGCCs) in the nervous system. This reduces calcium influx and the release of certain neurotransmitters involved in transmitting pain signals, helping relieve neuropathic pain.
The initial adult dose may be 5 mg orally twice daily, followed by gradual increases at intervals of at least one week, according to the patient's response and tolerability. The dose may be adjusted by the prescribing physician.
The appropriate dose depends on the indication, kidney function, age, tolerability, and the specific product's approved prescribing information. Patients should not increase or change their dose without medical advice.
Mirogabalin should not be used in patients with a known hypersensitivity to mirogabalin or any of the product's ingredients.
Patients with impaired kidney or liver function should be assessed by a physician before treatment. The manufacturer's approved prescribing information should be consulted to determine whether dose adjustment, avoidance, or additional monitoring is required.
Cimetidine and probenecid: May increase mirogabalin concentrations in the blood.
Alcohol: May increase drowsiness, dizziness, and impairment.
Lorazepam and other central nervous system depressants: May increase sedation and impairment.
