Empatab M ER 5/1000mg Tablet 1 Strip

Generic: Empagliflozin + Metformin Hydrochloride

Type: Tablet

Pack Size: 6 Pcs

Empagliflozin is a Sodium-Glucose Co-Transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, which works by blocking glucose reabsorption in the kidneys, leading to increased glucose excretion through urine. This helps lower blood sugar levels.

Metformin Hydrochloride is a biguanide-class oral antidiabetic drug that lowers blood glucose levels without causing hypoglycemia. It functions by:

  • Reducing liver glucose production
  • Decreasing glucose absorption in the intestines
  • Enhancing insulin sensitivity to promote better glucose uptake by cells.

✅ Description:

Empatab M ER is prescribed for adults with Type 2 diabetes mellitus as a supplementary treatment to diet and exercise. It is used in the following scenarios:

  • When Metformin alone (at its maximum tolerated dose) does not adequately control blood sugar levels.
  • In combination with other diabetes medications for patients who are not achieving optimal glycemic control with Metformin and those medications.
  • For patients already taking Empagliflozin and Metformin as separate tablets, transitioning to this combination simplifies the treatment regimen.
