✅ বিবরণ:

Aprocin is an antibiotic preparation used to treat bacterial infections of the eye and ear. It contains ciprofloxacin, which works by stopping the growth and reproduction of susceptible bacteria. Aprocin is intended for external ophthalmic or otic use only and should be used in the dose and duration prescribed by your doctor.

For proper application, hold the dropper close to the affected eye or ear without touching the tip to the skin or other surfaces. Apply the prescribed number of drops and wipe away any excess liquid. Complete the full course of treatment even if your symptoms improve.

  • Use Aprocin exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
  • Do not skip doses and complete the prescribed course.
  • Avoid touching the dropper tip to any surface.
  • Do not share the bottle with another person.
  • Avoid contact lenses during treatment of an eye infection unless your doctor advises otherwise.
  • Temporary blurred vision may occur after applying the eye drops.
  • Consult your doctor if symptoms worsen or fail to improve within a few days.
  • Discard any remaining medicine according to the product instructions after completing treatment.

  • Hypersensitivity to other quinolone antibiotics
  • Known allergy to any component of the preparation
✔️ Dosage & Administration

Bacterial Conjunctivitis – Adults:

Eye drops:
Instill 1–2 drops into the affected conjunctival sac every 2 hours while awake during days 1–2, followed by 1–2 drops every 4 hours while awake during days 3–7, or as prescribed by the physician.

Ophthalmic ointment, where applicable:
Apply approximately a 1.25 cm ribbon into the conjunctival sac every 8 hours during days 1–2, followed by every 12 hours during days 3–7.

Corneal Ulcer/Keratitis – Adults:

A more intensive regimen may be required, beginning with frequent administration during the first 24 hours and gradually reducing the frequency over the following days. Such treatment should be carried out strictly under the supervision of an ophthalmologist.

Children:

The safety and effectiveness of ciprofloxacin ophthalmic preparations may vary according to age and indication. Pediatric use should therefore follow the dosage prescribed by a physician.

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

There are limited data regarding the use of ciprofloxacin ophthalmic or otic preparations during pregnancy. Because systemic absorption following topical eye or ear administration is generally low, exposure is expected to be limited. Nevertheless, pregnant women should use Aprocin only after consulting their doctor.

Ciprofloxacin can pass into breast milk following systemic administration. With topical eye or ear use, systemic exposure is expected to be low. Breastfeeding mothers should consult their doctor before using Aprocin.

✔️ Safety Information:
  • Aprocin is for external eye or ear use only and must not be injected.
  • Do not touch the dropper tip to the eye, ear, fingers, skin, or other surfaces, as this may contaminate the medicine.
  • Prolonged or inappropriate use may allow the growth of organisms that are not sensitive to ciprofloxacin, including fungi.
  • Stop using the medicine and seek medical advice if you develop a skin rash or other signs of an allergic reaction.
  • If symptoms do not begin to improve within approximately 2 days, or if they worsen during treatment, consult your doctor.
  • Do not use contact lenses while treating an eye infection unless specifically advised by your ophthalmologist.
  • Ciprofloxacin eye drops may cause temporary blurred vision immediately after application. Avoid driving or operating machinery until your vision becomes clear.
  • Continue treatment for the duration prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop early simply because symptoms have improved.
✔️ Drug Interactions

Topical ciprofloxacin generally produces much lower systemic exposure than oral ciprofloxacin. However, inform your doctor if you are taking other medicines, particularly:

  • Warfarin and other oral anticoagulants
  • Theophylline
  • Clozapine or ropinirole
  • Glibenclamide
  • Methotrexate
  • Phenytoin
  • Tizanidine
  • Antiarrhythmic medicines that may prolong the QT interval
  • Tricyclic antidepressants
  • Macrolide antibiotics
  • Antipsychotic medicines
  • NSAIDs
  • Corticosteroids
✔️ Storage:

Store Aprocin in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and excessive heat. Keep the container tightly closed when not in use and out of the reach of children. Do not use the medicine after the expiry date or if the preparation appears contaminated or has changed in appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Aprocin contains ciprofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. It works by inhibiting bacterial enzymes, particularly DNA gyrase, which bacteria require for the replication, repair, and maintenance of their DNA. This prevents susceptible bacteria from multiplying and helps eliminate the infection.

If you forget to apply a dose, use it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular treatment schedule. Do not apply a double dose to compensate for a missed dose.

Use Aprocin only in the eye or ear and only as directed by your doctor. Wash your hands before application. Hold the dropper close to the affected eye or ear without allowing the tip to touch the eye, ear, skin, or any other surface. Apply the prescribed number of drops. For eye use, gently close the eye after application and avoid excessive blinking or rubbing. For ear use, remain in the appropriate position for a short time after applying the drops if advised. Wipe away any excess medicine with a clean tissue. Do not share the medicine with others. Complete the prescribed course even if you feel better.
