Axim CV 250 Tablet is a dual-action medication containing two ingredients that work together to fight bacterial infections. The main antibiotic is cefuroxime. It works by binding to proteins (penicillin-binding proteins, or PBPs) that bacteria need to build their protective outer wall. This stops the bacteria from making a strong cell wall, causing them to break down and die, helping clear the infection. Some bacteria produce a defence chemical (beta-lactamase enzyme) that can break down certain antibiotics before they work. Clavulanic acid blocks this defence chemical, helping protect cefuroxime from beta-lactamase produced by susceptible bacteria and supporting its antibacterial activity.

Axim CV 250 Tablet is a combination antibiotic prescribed to treat a variety of bacterial infections in children, including ear, throat, sinus, chest, and urinary tract infections. It works by targeting and killing the bacteria responsible for the illness, helping your child recover. It is highly effective when used exactly as directed by your healthcare provider.
To get the best results, your child must take them consistently at the same times every day as prescribed. These tablets must be taken with food, as this helps your child's body absorb the medicine much better and reduces the chance of an upset stomach. Ensuring your child drinks plenty of water and gets plenty of rest will also support their recovery.
Some children may experience mild side effects like a temporary upset stomach or loose stools. These issues usually go away on their own as their body adjusts. However, if your child develops severe, watery diarrhoea or a skin rash, consult a doctor immediately.
Do not take Axim CV 250 if your child has a history of severe allergic reactions to penicillin or similar antibiotic medicines. It is also important to tell your doctor if your child has ever experienced liver damage or jaundice while taking antibiotics. Your doctor will evaluate if this medication is safe for your child's specific medical history.
Before starting, let your doctor know if your child is taking any other medications, especially other antibiotics or stomach acid reducers, as these can affect how well the medicine works. If your child cannot swallow tablets, ask your doctor or pharmacist if another suitable option is available.

- Axim CV 250 Tablet can be taken with or without food.

- Completing the full course of treatment helps clear the infection completely and reduces the chance of it coming back, even if your child starts to feel better.

- If your child vomits within 30 minutes after taking the medicine, contact your doctor or pharmacist before giving another dose.

- Contact your doctor if your child's symptoms do not improve or worsen after 48 to 72 hours, if they develop new or severe side effects, have persistent vomiting or difficulty taking the medicine, or if their fever persists or returns after initially improving.

- Probenecid (used for gout): Probenecid may increase the amount of cefuroxime in your child's body by slowing its removal. Tell your doctor if your child is taking this medicine.
- Blood thinners (such as warfarin): Axim CV 250 may increase the risk of bleeding when taken with blood thinners. Tell your doctor if your child is taking these medicines, as additional monitoring may be needed.
✔️ Storage:
- Store the tablets in their original blister pack at room temperature, ideally below 25°C, in a dry place away from direct heat and moisture.
- Once removed from the blister pack, use the tablet immediately.
