Cilnipin 10 contains cilnidipine, a calcium channel blocker used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It works by relaxing blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more easily and reducing the workload on the heart. Controlling blood pressure helps reduce the risk of complications such as stroke and heart attack.
Adults: The usual starting dose of cilnidipine is 5–10 mg once daily. Your doctor may adjust the dose according to your blood pressure response. The maximum commonly recommended dose is 20 mg daily.
- Swallow the tablet whole with water.
- Take it at the same time each day.
- It may be taken with or without food, according to the product instructions.
- Do not change the dose or discontinue treatment without consulting your doctor.
Possible side effects include:
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Fatigue
- Flushing
- Ankle or foot swelling
- Palpitations
- Sleepiness
- Nausea
- Abdominal discomfort
- Monitor your blood pressure regularly.
- Rise slowly from sitting or lying positions to reduce dizziness.
- Inform your doctor if you have heart disease, low blood pressure, or liver or kidney problems.
- Tell your doctor about all medicines you take, particularly other blood pressure medicines.
- Consult your doctor before using this medicine during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- Do not stop treatment abruptly without medical advice.
Cilnidipine may interact with:
- Other antihypertensive medicines: May cause an excessive reduction in blood pressure.
- Cimetidine: May affect blood pressure-lowering effects.
- Erythromycin: May alter cilnidipine exposure.
- Rifampicin and certain anticonvulsants: May affect the metabolism or effectiveness of some calcium channel blockers.
Store in a cool, dry place according to the manufacturer's instructions. Protect from excessive heat, moisture, and direct sunlight. Keep out of the reach of children.
