Algicid Dx Liquid Sachet

✔️ Algicid DX is generally well tolerated. However, some individuals may experience mild gastrointestinal effects such as:

• Constipation
• Flatulence
• Abdominal cramps
• Belching

Excessive dosing may cause abdominal bloating or a sensation of fullness. Medical advice should be sought if side effects persist or worsen.

✔️ Dosage & Administration

Oral Suspension

Adults & children ≥12 years: 10–20 mL after meals and at bedtime, up to 4 times daily

Children 6–12 years: 5–10 mL after meals and at bedtime, up to 4 times daily

Children <6 years: Not recommended

Elderly: No dose adjustment required

Hepatic impairment: No dose adjustment required

Renal insufficiency: Use with caution in patients on a highly restricted salt diet

✔️ A minimum interval of 2 hours should be maintained between Algicid DX and other medications, particularly:

• Tetracyclines
• Digoxin
• Fluoroquinolones
• Iron salts
• Ketoconazole
• Neuroleptics
• Thyroid hormones
• Penicillamine
• Beta-blockers (atenolol, metoprolol, propranolol)
• Glucocorticoids
• Chloroquine
• Bisphosphonates
• Estramustine

✔️ Contraindications:

Algicid DX is contraindicated in patients with known or suspected hypersensitivity to any of its active ingredients or excipients.

✔️ Pregnancy | Lactation | Fertility

Pregnancy: Extensive clinical and post-marketing data show no evidence of fetal or neonatal toxicity. Algicid DX may be used during pregnancy when clinically indicated.

Breastfeeding: No adverse effects have been observed in breastfed infants. Use during lactation is considered safe.

Fertility: Pre-clinical and clinical data indicate no adverse effect on fertility or reproductive outcomes.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

• Each 20 mL dose contains 254.5 mg sodium and 260 mg calcium; caution is required in patients on sodium-restricted diets or with conditions such as congestive heart failure or renal impairment.
• Chewable tablets contain 75 mg of calcium per tablet.
• Use with caution in patients with hypercalcaemia, nephrocalcinosis, or recurrent calcium-containing kidney stones.
• Due to the aspartame content, tablets should not be used in patients with phenylketonuria.
• Not recommended for children under 12 years unless advised by a physician.
• Prolonged use beyond 7 consecutive days requires medical consultation.
• Algicid DX may mask symptoms of more serious gastrointestinal conditions.
• Not recommended in patients with severe renal impairment or hypophosphatemia.
• Hypersensitivity reactions may occur in susceptible individuals.

✔️ Storage Conditions

Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children. Do not refrigerate or freeze.
