Acts physically, forming a gel raft of Alginic acid upon reaction with gastric acid, which floats on stomach contents, impeding gastro-esophageal reflux for up to 4 hours.

Some side effects may include constipation, flatulence, stomach cramps, or belching.

• This suspension is a combination of three medications. Sodium alginate forms a viscous gel by reacting with stomach acid, where the gel acts as a barrier to reduce reflux.
• Sodium bicarbonate neutralizes the acidic pH in the stomach. Calcium carbonate decreases the amount of acid in the stomach. Drink plenty of water to prevent constipation.
• Follow your doctor’s advice. Contact your doctor if you consume more Sodium alginate, Sodium bicarbonate, and Calcium carbonate.
• It is recommended not to consume this medicine right after meals.

• Provides relief from upset stomach or dyspepsia associated with hyperacidity.
• Alleviates painful conditions caused by gastric acid and bile reflux into the esophagus.
• Suitable for dyspepsia linked with gastric reflux, reflux esophagitis, heartburn, hiatus hernia, flatulence associated with gastric reflux, heartburn during pregnancy, regurgitation, and all cases of epigastric and retrosternal distress where gastric reflux is the underlying cause.

It operates through a physical mechanism, forming a protective Alginic acid gel raft with a nearly neutral pH that floats on the stomach contents, effectively preventing gastro-esophageal reflux for up to 4 hours. In severe cases, the raft itself may be refluxed into the esophagus, providing a soothing effect rather than the stomach contents.

✔️ Dosage & Administration of Progavi Suspension

• Suspension for adults: 10-20 ml after meals and at bedtime, up to four times a day.
• Suspension for children over 12 years: 10-20 ml after meals and at bedtime, up to four times a day.

Should be taken with food, preferably after meals and at bedtime.

✔️ Interaction

Potential interactions with H2-antihistamines, tetracyclines, digoxin, fluoroquinolones, iron salts, ketoconazole, neuroleptics, thyroxine, penicillamine, beta-blockers, glucocorticoids, chloroquine, and diphosphonates.

• Caution with sodium-restricted diet.
• Monitor for hypercalcemia, nephrocalcinosis, and recurrent calcium-containing renal calculi.
• Reduced efficacy with very low levels of gastric acid.
• Antacid use may mask symptoms of internal bleeding secondary to NSAIDs.
• Not recommended for children under 12 years of age.
