✅ Description:
Azofend, a triazole-class antifungal, is used to treat serious fungal infections in patients aged 12 years and older. It is indicated for:
- Invasive Aspergillosis
- Candidemia (nonneutropenic) and other forms of disseminated candidiasis (affecting skin, abdomen, kidneys, bladder wall, and wounds)
- Esophageal candidiasis
- Severe infections caused by Scedosporium apiospermum and Fusarium species including Fusarium solani
Patients who cannot tolerate or do not respond to other antifungal treatments
Take only as directed by a registered medical practitioner.

Oral Form (Tablet or Suspension)
Take Azofend on an empty stomach—at least 1 hour before or after food.
Patients ≥ 40 kg body weight:
- Loading Dose (First 24 hrs): 400 mg (10 ml) every 12 hours
- Maintenance Dose: 200 mg (5 ml) twice daily
Patients < 40 kg body weight:
- Loading Dose (First 24 hrs): 200 mg (5 ml) every 12 hours
- Maintenance Dose: 100 mg (2.5 ml) twice daily
Or as prescribed by your physician.
Not recommended for children under 12 years, as safety and effectiveness are not established in this age group.

- Abdominal discomfort

- Visual disturbances (e.g., blurred vision)
- Headaches
- Chest pain
- Nausea
- Diarrhea
✔️ Drug Interactions
- Enzyme inhibitors/inducers (CYP3A4, CYP2C9, CYP2C19) may require dosage adjustments of Azofend.
- Azofend can increase blood levels and effects of other drugs metabolized by these enzymes—dosages of these drugs may need to be reduced.
- Phenytoin or Efavirenz may require increasing Azofend's maintenance dose.
✔️ Avoid Azofend in:
Known allergy to Voriconazole or any formulation ingredients
Concurrent use with drugs such as terfenadine, cisapride, astemizole, pimozide, quinidine, sirolimus, rifampin, carbamazepine, ritonavir, long-acting barbiturates, rifabutin, ergot alkaloids, or St. John's Wort due to risk of severe interactions or reduced effectiveness
✔️ Use in Pregnancy & Lactation
Azofend should only be used during pregnancy if the potential benefits outweigh the risks, as there are no adequate human studies.
✔️ Precautions & Warnings
- For treatments exceeding 180 days, the risks and benefits must be carefully weighed.
- Long-term use has been linked to an increased risk of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the skin.
✔️ Storage:
- Keep out of children’s reach.
- Store in a cool, dry place below 25°C and protect from light.
