✔️ Dosage & Administration of Glipatab-M 500

Adult Dose

• Initial dose: Empagliflozin 5 mg + Metformin 500 mg once daily
• Maximum daily dose:
  • Empagliflozin: 25 mg
  • Metformin: 2000 mg

Pediatric Use

Safety and efficacy in patients under 18 years of age have not been established.

Renal Dose

Renal function should be evaluated before initiating treatment. Use is contraindicated in patients with significantly impaired kidney function.

• Take the medicine exactly as prescribed by the physician.
• It should be taken with meals to reduce stomach-related side effects associated with metformin.
• Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush, chew, or break it.
• Dose adjustments should be based on effectiveness and tolerability.
• Gradual dose escalation is recommended to minimize gastrointestinal discomfort.

✔️ Glipatab-M 500 should not be used in patients with:

• Type 1 diabetes
• Diabetic ketoacidosis
• Severe renal impairment
• Severe hepatic disease
• Heart failure
• Active bladder infection
• History of lactic acidosis
• Hypersensitivity to empagliflozin or metformin

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

Pregnancy

Not recommended during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, due to possible fetal risk.

Lactation

Both empagliflozin and metformin may pass into breast milk. Use during breastfeeding should be considered carefully under medical supervision.

✔️ Use cautiously in patients with:

• Kidney or liver disease
• Heart failure
• Risk of dehydration
• Recurrent urinary tract or genital infections
• Elderly patients
• Recent surgery or trauma

Patients should maintain adequate hydration during treatment.

✔️ Empagliflozin and Metformin Hydrochloride combination may interact with:

• Insulin and sulfonylureas (increased risk of hypoglycemia)
• Diuretics (increased dehydration risk)
• ACE inhibitors and ARBs (may increase hypotension risk)
• Steroids (may increase blood sugar levels)
• Beta-blockers (may mask hypoglycemia symptoms)
• Thiazolidinediones (may increase heart failure risk)
