✔️ Dosage and Administration of Elisa LF

Take Elisa LF Tablet once daily at approximately the same time, following the order indicated on the blister pack.

The usual 28-day pack contains:

Pink tablets: Take one daily for 24 consecutive days.

Light orange tablets: Take one daily for the following 4 days.

• Start the next pack immediately after finishing the previous pack, without a break, even if menstrual bleeding continues.
• Treatment may be started on the first day of menstruation or according to the alternative start schedule recommended by your healthcare professional. If starting after the first day of menstruation, use a non-hormonal backup contraceptive method for the first 7 days, as directed by your doctor.
• When switching from another oral contraceptive, follow your doctor's instructions regarding the appropriate starting day. If a tablet is missed, follow the product leaflet or seek advice from a healthcare professional, as the recommended action depends on the number and timing of missed tablets.

✔️ Elisa LF Tablet should not be used by women with certain medical conditions, including

• A history of or high risk for blood clots, stroke, or other serious cardiovascular events
• Severe kidney disease or adrenal insufficiency
• Current breast cancer or another hormone-sensitive cancer
• Severe liver disease or liver tumours
• Unexplained abnormal uterine bleeding
• Pregnancy
• Certain conditions associated with high blood potassium levels

✔️ Interaction

Certain medicines and herbal products can reduce contraceptive effectiveness by increasing the breakdown of contraceptive hormones. These include some enzyme-inducing medicines used for epilepsy, tuberculosis, and other conditions, as well as St John's wort.

Medicines that increase potassium levels may also interact with drospirenone. Inform your doctor about all prescription medicines, over-the-counter products, and supplements you use. Additional or alternative contraception may be required with certain interacting medicines.

Elisa LF combines three ingredients:

• Drospirenone: A progestin that helps prevent ovulation and contributes to changes in cervical mucus and the uterine lining.
• Ethinylestradiol: An estrogen that works with drospirenone to suppress ovulation and regulate the menstrual cycle.
• Levomefolate Calcium: A form of folate that helps increase folate levels in the body.

Together, the hormonal ingredients prevent pregnancy when taken correctly, while levomefolate provides additional folate supplementation.

✔️ Precautions and Warnings

• Blood clot risk: Combined hormonal contraceptives can increase the risk of venous and arterial blood clots. The risk may be higher in women with certain risk factors, including smoking, older age, obesity, or a history of thrombosis.
• High blood pressure: This medicine is not suitable for women with uncontrolled hypertension or hypertension associated with vascular disease.
• Potassium levels: Drospirenone can increase blood potassium levels. Your doctor may recommend potassium monitoring if you take medicines that raise potassium, particularly during the first treatment cycle.
• Liver conditions: Stop taking the medicine and seek medical advice if jaundice or other signs of significant liver problems develop.
• Diabetes and lipid disorders: Women with diabetes, prediabetes, or abnormal lipid levels may require appropriate monitoring.
• Surgery: Tell your doctor about planned major surgery or periods of prolonged immobility because temporary discontinuation may be necessary.
• Irregular bleeding: Spotting may occur, particularly during the first few months. Persistent abnormal bleeding or missed withdrawal bleeding should be evaluated.
