Solifenacin Succinate 5mg Tablet/Solifen 5 is prescribed to manage symptoms of overactive bladder, including:
- Frequent urination.

- Urge urinary incontinence, or involuntary urine leakage associated with a sudden urge to urinate.
- Solifen 5 helps improve bladder control by reducing involuntary bladder contractions.

- Eat fibre-rich foods and remain physically active to help prevent constipation.
- Limit caffeine, alcohol, and carbonated drinks if they worsen your urinary symptoms.
- Be cautious when driving or operating machinery if you experience blurred vision, dizziness, or drowsiness.
- Continue treatment as prescribed, even if improvement is gradual. Consult your doctor if symptoms persist or worsen.

Solifen 5 contains solifenacin, an antimuscarinic medicine used to treat overactive bladder (OAB). It helps reduce urinary urgency, frequent urination, and episodes of involuntary urine leakage by relaxing the bladder muscles and improving the bladder's ability to store urine.
Take Solifen 5 according to your doctor's prescribed dose and duration. It can be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day. Swallow the tablet whole without crushing, breaking, or chewing it. Do not discontinue treatment without consulting your doctor, as your urinary symptoms may return.
Common side effects include dry mouth, constipation, nausea, indigestion, and blurred vision. Drinking adequate water, maintaining a fibre-rich diet, and practising healthy bowel habits may help manage some of these effects. If you experience blurred vision or dizziness, avoid driving or operating machinery until you feel safe to do so.
Before starting treatment, inform your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease, glaucoma, difficulty emptying your bladder, digestive problems, or a history of heart rhythm abnormalities. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. Also disclose all other medicines you are taking to help prevent potential drug interactions.

Adult dosage: The usual recommended dose is 5 mg once daily. If necessary and well tolerated, the doctor may increase the dose to 10 mg once daily. Patients taking strong CYP3A4 inhibitors generally should not exceed 5 mg daily.
Renal dosage: In severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance below 30 mL/min), the maximum recommended dose is 5 mg once daily.
Hepatic dosage: In moderate hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh class B), the maximum recommended dose is 5 mg once daily. Use is generally not recommended in severe hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh class C).

- Take the medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
- Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush, break, or chew it.
- It may be taken with or without food.
- Try to take it at the same time every day.
- Do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice.
✔️ Interaction
Solifenacin may interact with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors, including ketoconazole, itraconazole, clarithromycin, ritonavir, and certain other medicines. Combining it with other anticholinergic medicines may increase adverse effects. It may also affect the actions of certain medicines that promote gastrointestinal movement, such as metoclopramide.

Urinary retention, gastric retention, and uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma.
✔️ Contraindications:
Use cautiously in patients with bladder outlet obstruction, reduced gastrointestinal motility, gastrointestinal obstructive disorders, controlled narrow-angle glaucoma, kidney or liver impairment, or a history of QT prolongation. Adequate hydration is important. Solifenacin may reduce sweating and increase the risk of overheating in hot weather.

Consult your doctor before using Solifen 5 during pregnancy or breastfeeding, as the suitability of treatment must be assessed individually.
