- Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
- Gastrointestinal (GI) tract spasms
✔️ Side Effects of Bexizole
Reported side effects include:
- Local irritation, erythematous rash, or contact dermatitis
- Headache, bradycardia, muscle tremors, ataxia
- Heartburn or acid reflux
- Exacerbation of asthma, leading to wheezing or difficulty breathing
- Urticaria (hives)
✔️ Adult Dosage of Bexizole
Oral: 0.2 ml peppermint oil three times daily, which may be increased to 0.4 ml three times daily if necessary.
Duration of therapy: Up to 3 months.
✔️ Drug Interactions
- Concomitant use with alcohol may intensify side effects.
- Enteric-coated peppermint oil preparations should not be taken with antacids, as this may lead to premature dissolution of the coating.
✔️ Contraindications
- Pregnancy
- Cholecystitis
- Liver dysfunction
- Pediatric use (not recommended for children)
✔️ Precautions
- Use cautiously in individuals with hiatal hernia.
- Not recommended during pregnancy and lactation unless clearly necessary.
