Itratec SB 100 contains itraconazole, an antifungal medicine used to treat various fungal infections affecting the mouth, throat, skin, vagina, and nails. It works by disrupting the fungal cell membrane, preventing fungal growth and helping eliminate the infection.
It is used for conditions such as oral candidiasis, vulvovaginal candidiasis, ringworm, athlete’s foot, jock itch, pityriasis versicolor, and fungal nail infections. The exact use depends on the infection and the doctor's assessment.
Itratec SB 100 contains itraconazole, which inhibits the production of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes. This disrupts the membrane's structure and function, stopping fungal growth and helping control susceptible fungal infections.
Itraconazole should not be used in patients with a known allergy to itraconazole or other relevant ingredients. It may be unsuitable for patients with significant liver disease, heart failure, or certain kidney conditions. It is contraindicated with several interacting medicines and should generally be avoided during pregnancy unless specialist guidance determines otherwise.

Swallow the capsule whole without crushing, chewing, or breaking it. Take it with food, preferably immediately after a full meal, if this matches the instructions for your specific formulation.
Continue the prescribed course even if your symptoms improve early. Do not change the dose or stop treatment without consulting your doctor. If your infection does not improve or becomes worse, seek medical advice.
Avoid taking antacids within two hours before or after this medicine unless your doctor or pharmacist provides different instructions. Other medicines that reduce stomach acidity may also affect absorption.
Possible adverse effects include nausea, vomiting, rash, swelling, headache, abnormal liver function tests, diarrhea, fever, itching, fatigue, abdominal pain, dizziness, low potassium, and reduced appetite.
Rare but serious complications include liver failure, worsening heart failure, pulmonary edema, and severe skin reactions.
Take orally according to your doctor's instructions. Conventional itraconazole capsules are generally taken immediately after a full meal. Follow the specific instructions for the SB formulation, as administration requirements may differ.
The dose and duration depend on the type of infection and the patient's clinical condition. The following are general reference regimens for conventional itraconazole capsules and should not automatically be applied to every SB formulation:
- Oropharyngeal candidiasis: Commonly 100 mg daily for 15 days.
- Vulvovaginal candidiasis: A regimen of 200 mg twice daily for one day may be prescribed.
- Pityriasis versicolor: Commonly 200 mg daily for seven days.
- Tinea corporis and tinea cruris: Commonly 100 mg daily for 15 days.
- Fungal nail infections: Treatment may involve 200 mg daily for three months.
- Systemic fungal infections: Dosing varies according to the infection and may require specialist supervision.
- Tinea pedis and tinea manuum: Treatment duration and dosing depend on the infection and the prescribed regimen.
Important: These regimens are not interchangeable with SUBA or other enhanced-bioavailability itraconazole products. Use the dose specifically prescribed for Itratec SB 100.
Itraconazole interacts with many medicines and can increase or decrease their blood concentrations.
Liver function monitoring may be necessary during prolonged treatment. Report symptoms of liver injury, heart failure, hearing changes, or nerve-related problems promptly.
