Nebicard Plus 5mg+12.5mg Tablet

✔️ Pharmacology / Mode of Action

• Nebivolol: A selective beta-1 blocker that reduces heart rate and improves heart pumping efficiency. It also helps relax blood vessels by modulating nitric oxide release, lowering blood pressure.
• Hydrochlorothiazide: A diuretic that lowers blood pressure by removing excess water and electrolytes (sodium and chloride) from the body. It also relaxes blood vessels over time, improving blood flow.

✔️ Dosage & Administration

Adults: 1 tablet once daily, with or without food.

Swallow the tablet whole; do not chew, crush, or break it.

Take it at a fixed time each day for consistent effect.

✔️ Side Effects

• Nausea, constipation, diarrhea
• Fatigue, dizziness, headache
• Swelling of hands or feet, breathlessness
• Tingling or pricking sensations (paresthesia)
• Electrolyte changes: decreased potassium or magnesium, increased calcium
• Glucose intolerance, altered blood lipid levels, and increased uric acid

Potential serious/fatal effects:

Seizures, severe electrolyte imbalances, hypersensitivity reactions, and unmasking of diabetes

✔️ Interaction

• Increased risk of low sodium when combined with carbamazepine
• Potentiates the effects of beta blockers, ACE inhibitors, corticosteroids, and other diuretics
• May increase the risk of digitalis or lithium toxicity
• Cross-allergy potential with sulfonamides and sulfonylureas
• Can impair diabetes control if used with oral hypoglycemic agents
• Potentiates the nephrotoxicity of aminoglycosides and the bone marrow suppression of anticancer drugs
• Enhances neuromuscular block with muscle relaxants

✔️ Contraindications:

• Hypersensitivity to Nebivolol, Hydrochlorothiazide, or sulphonamides
• Liver impairment, anuria
• Pregnancy and lactation

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

Patients with a history of: allergies, psoriasis, hyperthyroidism, peripheral arterial disease, diabetes, edema, renal impairment, hyperlipidemia, hyperuricemia

Use with caution in the elderly

Monitor electrolytes, kidney function, and blood sugar during therapy
