Take orally, preferably at night, as the effect appears in 6–8 hours.

Adults:

Constipation: 5–10 mg once daily

Bowel evacuation before investigations: 10 mg with magnesium citrate, given morning and afternoon of the day before the procedure

Children:

1 month–<4 years: 0.25 mg/kg daily (Max: 5 mg)

4–10 years: 2.5–5 mg daily

10 years: 5–10 mg daily
(Doses usually given at night)
