Constipation

✔️ Dosage and Administration

For oral use. Recommended to take it at night for evacuation the following morning. Begin with the lowest dose and adjust as needed (do not exceed the maximum daily dose).

10 mg Tablet

Adults and children over 10 years: 5-10 mg/day
Children (4-10 years): 2.5-5 mg/day

✔️ Chronic overdosage may lead to:

Chronic diarrhea
Abdominal pain
Hypokalemia
Secondary hyperaldosteronism
Renal calculi
Renal tubular damage and metabolic alkalosis

✔️ Interaction

Increased risk of electrolyte imbalance with concomitant use of diuretics or adreno-corticosteroids (especially with excessive doses).
Reduced laxative effect when used with antibiotics.

✔️ Possible side effects include:

Common: Diarrhea, abdominal pain/cramps, nausea, vomiting
Others: Dizziness, syncope (vasovagal response), hypersensitivity

✔️ Do not use in patients with:

Ileus or intestinal obstruction
Severe, acute abdominal conditions (e.g., appendicitis)
Acute inflammatory bowel disease
Severe dehydration
Hypersensitivity to Sodium Picosulfate or any components

✔️ Pregnancy and Lactation

No reported harmful effects during pregnancy or to the fetus.
Avoid in the first trimester.
The active metabolite and its glucuronides are not excreted in breast milk.

✔️ Precautions and Warnings

Prolonged excessive use may result in:
- Fluid and electrolyte imbalance
- Hypokalemia
Caution for patients with:
- Alcoholism
- Liver disease
- Epilepsy
To be used with care during pregnancy, breastfeeding, and in children.
