Iprasol HFA Inhaler

✔️ Proper inhaler technique is essential to ensure effective drug delivery:

• Remove the cap and shake the inhaler well before use.
• If new or unused for a week, release a test puff into the air.
• Exhale fully, place the mouthpiece between the lips, and seal tightly.
• Inhale slowly and deeply while pressing the canister.
• Hold your breath for about 10 seconds before exhaling.
• Wait at least 1 minute between multiple puffs if prescribed.
• Rinse the mouth after use.

Cleaning:
Clean the inhaler weekly by rinsing the plastic parts with warm water (do not immerse the metal canister). Allow to dry completely before reassembling.

✔️ Side Effects

Common:

• Mild tremor and headache (usually transient)

Rare:

• Muscle cramps
• Hypersensitivity reactions (e.g., rash, angioedema, bronchospasm, hypotension)
• Headache, chest discomfort, nausea, cough, pharyngitis, sinusitis

✔️ Interaction

• Can be used with other COPD medications such as bronchodilators, methylxanthines, and steroids.
• Use cautiously with other anticholinergic or sympathomimetic drugs due to increased risk of cardiovascular side effects.
• Caution is advised when used with MAO inhibitors, tricyclic antidepressants, or non–potassium-sparing diuretics.

✔️ Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to salbutamol, ipratropium, atropine derivatives, or any component of the formulation
• Allergy to soya-lecithin, soybean, or peanut products

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

• Ipratropium is considered relatively safe (Category B), while salbutamol falls under Category C based on animal data.
• Use during pregnancy only if the expected benefit outweighs potential risks.
• Since it is unknown whether the drug passes into breast milk, caution is advised during breastfeeding.

✔️ Precautions

• Use carefully in patients with glaucoma, enlarged prostate, or bladder obstruction
• Caution in patients with diabetes, hyperthyroidism, seizures, or sensitivity to sympathomimetics
• Monitor for cardiovascular effects such as increased heart rate or blood pressure

✔️ Storage Conditions

• Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat
• Do not puncture or burn the pressurized canister
• Keep out of reach of children and away from eyes
