✔️ Dosage of Duotide

Adult Dose (18 years and above)

Should be taken at the same time each day and not more than once every 24 hours.

Recommended Dose for COPD Maintenance Therapy

One inhalation of 25/62.5 micrograms once daily

Limitations of Use

Not indicated for the relief of acute bronchospasm

Not indicated for the treatment of asthma

Use in Children and Adolescents

Not recommended for use in children and adolescents

Safety and efficacy have not been established in patients aged 17 years or younger

Geriatric, Renal, or Moderate Hepatic Impairment

No dose adjustment is required

✔️ Administration of Duotide

The inhalation capsules must not be swallowed.

Capsules should be used only with the inhaler device.

Remove the capsule from the blister pack immediately before use.

After each use, rinse the mouth with water to reduce the risk of oropharyngeal candidiasis.

• Pharyngitis
• Sinusitis
• Lower respiratory tract infection
• Constipation
• Diarrhea
• Pain in extremities
• Muscle spasms
• Neck pain
• Chest pain

✔️ Drug Interaction

• Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole): Use with caution due to potential systemic corticosteroid and cardiovascular effects
• Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) and tricyclic antidepressants: Use with extreme caution as vilanterol’s vascular effects may be enhanced
• Beta-blockers: May block bronchodilatory effects and cause bronchospasm
• Diuretics: May increase the risk of ECG changes and/or hypokalemia, particularly with non–potassium-sparing diuretics
• Anticholinergics: Concurrent use may increase anticholinergic effects; avoid use with other anticholinergic-containing drugs

✔️ Contraindications:

• Hypersensitivity to milk proteins or any component of the formulation
• Use of LABA-containing products without inhaled corticosteroids is contraindicated in patients with asthma

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

There are insufficient data regarding the use of Duotide in pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers. Use only if clearly needed and under medical supervision.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

• LABA monotherapy increases the risk of serious asthma-related events
• Do not initiate treatment during acute deterioration of COPD or asthma
• Not intended for relief of acute symptoms
• Do not use with additional LABA-containing therapies due to overdose risk
• Discontinue immediately if paradoxical bronchospasm occurs
• Use cautiously in patients with cardiovascular disorders due to beta-adrenergic stimulation
• Use with caution in patients with seizure disorders, thyrotoxicosis, diabetes mellitus, or ketoacidosis
• May worsen narrow-angle glaucoma; patients should seek immediate medical attention if symptoms occur
• May cause urinary retention; use cautiously in patients with prostatic hyperplasia or bladder-neck obstruction
• Monitor for hypokalemia and hyperglycemia

✔️ Storage:

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat.
Keep out of reach of children.
Avoid contact with eyes.
