✔️ Dosage & Administration

✔ Adults & Adolescents (12+ years):

• 20 mg tablet once daily (for allergic rhinitis, urticaria, allergic rhinoconjunctivitis)
• Take on an empty stomach with water (optimal absorption)
• If a dose is missed, take the next scheduled dose. Do not take an extra dose.

✔ Children (6 to 11 years):

• 10 mg mouth-dissolving tablet once daily
• Can be placed directly in the mouth or dissolved in a teaspoon of water
• Maximum daily dose: 10 mg

✔ Children (2 to 5 years):

• 4 ml oral solution once daily

⚠ Not recommended for children under 2 years due to insufficient safety data.

✔️ Side Effects

• Headache, dizziness
• Somnolence, fatigue

✔️ DrugInteractions

✔ Increased Bilastine levels with:

• Ketoconazole, Erythromycin, Cyclosporine, Diltiazem
• However, no safety concerns were noted

✔ No enhanced CNS depression with:

• Alcohol (20 mg Bilastine) – Similar psychomotor effects as placebo
• Lorazepam (3 mg for 8 days) – No increased sedation

✔️ Contraindications

🚫 Bilastine is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to the drug or its excipients.

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

✔ Pregnancy: Limited human data; animal studies show no harm. Use only if necessary.
✔ Lactation: Unknown if excreted in breast milk; caution advised.

✔️ Overdose Effects

✔ Safe in high doses (up to 220 mg single dose or 200 mg/day for 7 days).
✔ Common overdose symptoms:

• Dizziness, headache, nausea
  ✔ No serious adverse events or QTc prolongation reported.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

⚠ Driving & Machinery: Generally safe, but rare cases of drowsiness may occur.
⚠ Elderly (65+ years): No difference in safety/efficacy compared to younger patients.
⚠ Renal Impairment: No dose adjustment is needed (Bilastine is not metabolized).
⚠ Liver Impairment: No significant effect on elimination, so dose adjustment is not required.
