Management of dry and pruritic skin conditions
✔️ Side Effects:
Rare side effects include allergic reactions such as swelling, rash, wheezing, or difficulty breathing. Mild skin reactions like redness, irritation, and itching may occur. Discontinue use and seek medical help if severe reactions occur.
✔️ Pharmacology:
- Antimicrobials: Benzalkonium chloride and chlorhexidine hydrochloride combat bacteria on the skin, preventing infections from scratching and eczema flare-ups.
- Emollients: Liquid paraffin and isopropyl myristate help moisturize and soften the skin, restore the skin's barrier function, and protect against drying effects from bathing and cleansing products.
✔️ Dosage:
- Adults, Children, and the Elderly: Apply as needed to affected areas and massage until absorbed. Can also be used as a soap substitute in the bath or shower.
✔️ Administration:
- As a Leave-On Application: Smooth the lotion onto affected areas and allow time for absorption.
- As a Soap Substitute: Use in place of ordinary soap. After bathing or washing, pat the skin dry with a soft towel.
✔️ Interactions:
No known interactions with other medications.
✔️ Contraindications
Do not use if allergic to any of the ingredients, including benzalkonium chloride, chlorhexidine dihydrochloride, liquid paraffin, or isopropyl myristate.
