Carbidopa + Levodopa + Entacapone is a combination medicine used in the management of Parkinson’s disease, a progressive neurological disorder that affects movement. It helps relieve symptoms such as tremors, stiffness, spasms, difficulty in walking, and loss of coordination. The condition arises due to a decline in dopamine-producing neurons in the brain.
This preparation combines three agents that act synergistically:
- Levodopa – Converts into dopamine in the brain, restoring dopamine levels and improving motor control.
- Carbidopa – A decarboxylase inhibitor that prevents the premature breakdown of levodopa in the bloodstream, allowing more of it to reach the brain.
- Entacapone – A COMT (catechol-O-methyltransferase) inhibitor that prolongs levodopa’s action in the body, ensuring sustained relief from Parkinson’s symptoms.
Together, these agents improve movement, reduce stiffness, and help control involuntary movements.
Safety Advices
Alcohol

Avoid consumption of alcohol with Tridopa, as it may increase the risk of adverse effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, or difficulty concentrating.
Pregnancy

Tridopa is a pregnancy Category C medicine. It is unknown whether Tridopa will affect pregnant women or the fetus. Hence, the intake of Tridopa should be avoided if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, as it may harm the baby
Breastfeeding

Tridopa is excreted in human milk, but the effect of Tridopa on an infant is unknown. So, Tridopa is given to a breastfeeding mother only if the doctor thinks the benefits outweigh the risks.
Driving

Carbidopa+levodopa+entacapone may cause drowsiness and make you fall asleep suddenly. Therefore, avoid driving if you feel drowsy after taking Carbidopa+levodopa+entacapone.

Food Interactions:
High-protein foods (meat, eggs, fish, dairy) may reduce drug absorption.
Avoid alcohol as it may intensify dizziness or drowsiness.

Known hypersensitivity to any component.
Concurrent use with non-selective MAO inhibitors (e.g., phenelzine, tranylcypromine) due to risk of hypertensive crisis.
