Deficiency: 40,000 IU weekly for 7 weeks; Maintenance: 1,400–2,000 IU/day
Prevention: 20,000 IU every 4 weeks; Osteoporosis: 20,000 IU monthly

Capsule (12–18 yrs):

Deficiency: 20,000 IU every 2 weeks (6 weeks)
Prevention: 20,000 IU every 6 weeks

Film-coated tablet: 1,000 IU daily (1–2 tablets)
Oroflash/Chewable: 1,000–2,000 IU/day

Safety not established in children under 12 years

Rare—may include nausea, headache, constipation, weight changes, polyuria, and elevated calcium/phosphate levels.

✔️ Interactions:

Decreased absorption/metabolism with antacids (Mg), digoxin, thiazide diuretics, cholestyramine, phenytoin, phenobarbital, corticosteroids, and mineral oil.

Hypercalcemia-related conditions
