✔️ Pharmacology

Calcium derived from algae is a vital mineral that strengthens bones and maintains overall skeletal health. ✔️ Side Effects & Overdose Effects

Common effects:

• Irregular heartbeat, nausea, dry mouth, weakness, headache, metallic taste, muscle or bone pain, drowsiness

Rare effects:

• Increased calcium levels in the blood, constipation, diarrhea, loss of appetite

• Excessive intake may cause nausea, vomiting, dizziness, anorexia, abdominal cramps, headache, and constipation.
• Treatment involves stopping the medication and ensuring proper hydration.

✔️ Dosage & Administration

• Adults: Take one tablet in the morning and one at night.
• The tablet should be taken orally.
• Not recommended for children under 12 years old.

✔️ Drug Interactions

With medications:

• Calcium may reduce the absorption of bisphosphonates, ciprofloxacin, fluorides, iron, levothyroxine, tetracyclines, and zinc.
• Corticosteroids can lower calcium absorption.
• Combining calcium and vitamin D3 with thiazide diuretics increases the risk of hypercalcemia.

With food and others:

• No significant food-drug interactions have been reported.

• Hypercalcemia or hypercalciuria
• Metastatic calcification
• Hypersensitivity to calcium, vitamin D3, or any component of the preparation

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

• Calcium and vitamin D3 should be taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding only after assessing the benefits and risks.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

• Caution is advised for patients with kidney impairment, sarcoidosis, hypercalcemia, or hypercalciuria.
