Lifcin is prescribed for infections caused by susceptible bacteria, including:
- Respiratory infections: Acute maxillary sinusitis, acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia
- Urinary tract infections: Uncomplicated and complicated UTI, acute pyelonephritis
- Skin and soft tissue infections: Abscesses, cellulitis, furuncles, impetigo, pyoderma, wound infections
- Enteric infections: Enteric fever, diarrhea, cholera, shigellosis, other enteritis
Caused by pathogens such as Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Moraxella catarrhalis, Campylobacter sp., Vibrio cholerae, Salmonella sp., Shigella sp., among others.

✔️ Mode of Action
Lifcin works by inhibiting bacterial DNA replication, which leads to disruption of cell growth and death. It shows strong activity against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
✔️ Oral Administration
Adults:
Acute sinusitis: 500 mg once daily (10–14 days) or 750 mg once daily (5 days)
Exacerbation of chronic bronchitis: 500 mg once daily (7 days), 750 mg once daily (3–5 days depending on severity)
Community-acquired pneumonia: 500 mg once daily (7–14 days) or 750 mg once daily (5 days)
Uncomplicated UTI: 250 mg once daily (3 days)
Complicated UTI / Pyelonephritis: 250 mg once daily (7–10 days)
Skin and soft tissue infections: 500 mg (uncomplicated) or 750 mg (complicated) once daily
Enteric fever: 500 mg once daily (7–14 days)
Diarrhea / Cholera / Shigellosis: 500 mg once daily (1–3 days depending on severity)
Children:
6 months–<5 years: 10 mg/kg every 12 hours
5 years: 10 mg/kg once daily
✔️ Drug Interactions
- Do not co-administer with solutions containing multivalent cations (Mg²⁺, Ca²⁺, Fe²⁺/³⁺) via IV or orally
- Antacids, iron, and adsorbents reduce absorption
- NSAIDs may increase CNS stimulation risk
- Warfarin may increase bleeding risk

Hypersensitivity to levofloxacin, other quinolones, or any component of the product
✔️ Precautions & Warnings
- Maintain adequate hydration to avoid concentrated urine
- Adjust dose in renal insufficiency
- Use caution in pregnancy and lactation; not recommended
- Monitor for retinal, CNS, or musculoskeletal side effects
