✅ Description:
Levamisole, the active levo-isomer of tetramisole, acts by paralyzing susceptible intestinal worms, which are then expelled naturally from the body. In addition to its anthelmintic properties, Levamisole has been shown to enhance cellular immune responses in humans.

✔️ Dosage & Administration
Biotrex is administered as a single oral dose, preferably after a light meal.
| Age Group | Dose |
|---|---|
| 1–4 years | 1 tablet or 5 mL syrup |
| 5–15 years | 2 tablets or 10 mL syrup |
| 16 years and above | 3 tablets or 15 mL syrup |
In cases of severe hookworm infection, a second standard dose may be given either one or seven days after the initial treatment, depending on clinical judgment.
✔️ Interaction
- May increase phenytoin toxicity.
- Increases the bioavailability of ivermectin while reducing that of albendazole.
- Concomitant alcohol intake may cause a disulfiram-like reaction and should be avoided.
✔️ Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to Levamisole or any component of the formulation.
Pregnancy — use is contraindicated.
✔️ Side Effects
Adverse effects are rare and generally mild. Reported side effects include:
Nausea, vomiting, and abdominal discomfort
Dizziness or headache
In rare cases, an encephalopathy-like syndrome may occur 2–3 weeks post-treatment.
✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation
Although animal studies have not demonstrated teratogenicity, use during pregnancy is not recommended unless clearly necessary. The potential benefits should be weighed against possible risks. Use in lactation should be under medical supervision.
✔️ Precautions & Warnings
Biotrex generally does not impair alertness or motor ability; mild, short-term dizziness may occur.
Caution is advised in individuals with microfilaraemia, as transient fever may develop following treatment.

Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light.
Keep out of reach of children.
