✔️ How does Bestcef 200 work?

 is a powerful antibiotic with bacteriostatic properties. It kills susceptible bacteria by blocking the bacterial cell wall synthesis. Unlike other cephalosporins, it can also remain unaffected by the toxic proteins produced by the bacteria (such as beta-lactamases). Collectively, these actions destroy the susceptible bacteria, manage their further growth and multiplication, and reduce the severity of the infection.

✔️ Side Effects: Bestcef 200

• Nausea or vomiting
• Stomach pain, indigestion, diarrhea, or wind
• Headache, dizziness
• Itchiness of the genital (or vaginal) areas

✔️ Before taking Bestcef 200, inform your doctor if you:

• Have you ever had colitis (inflammation of the colon)
• Are you going to have any blood or urine tests in the upcoming days

✔️ Before taking Bestcef 200, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines, such as:

• Warfarin (a medicine used for blood thinning)
• Carbamazepine (a medicine used for epilepsy)

✔️ Dosage & Administration of Bestcef/Cefixime

Adult Dose:

• Acute Bronchitis & Exacerbations of Chronic Bronchitis, Otitis Media, Pharyngitis/Tonsillitis, Uncomplicated Urinary Tract Infections: 200–400 mg daily, either as a single dose or divided into two doses.
• Gonorrhea: 400 mg as a single dose.
• Typhoid Fever: 20 mg/kg body weight daily, divided into two doses. Typical treatment duration is 7 days, which may be extended up to 14 days depending on infection severity.

Child Dose:

• Children <50 kg: 8 mg/kg/day orally every 12–24 hours.
• Serious infections (convalescent oral therapy): Up to 20 mg/kg/day.
• Children over 12 years: Capsules 200–400 mg daily, as a single or divided dose.

Powder for Suspension & Paediatric Drops:

• 6 months–1 year: 75 mg daily
• 1–4 years: 100 mg daily
• 5–10 years: 200 mg daily

Typhoid Fever: 15–20 mg/kg/day orally, divided every 12 hours for 7–14 days, not exceeding 400 mg/day.

Children <6 months: Safety and efficacy not established.

Renal Dose:

In patients with severe renal impairment (CrCl <20 mL/min), reduce the dose. Maximum: 200 mg daily.
