✔️ Dosage & Administration of Telmacal 5/40
Initial Therapy: 40/5 mg once daily. May increase to 80/5 mg if needed.
Add-on Therapy: If BP isn’t controlled with either drug alone.
Replacement Therapy: Can switch from separate tablets to a combined Telmacal tablet.
Max dose: 80/10 mg once daily
⚠️ Not recommended as starting therapy for patients ≥75 years or with liver problems.
✔️ Avoid Telmacal 5/40 if you have:
- Allergy to Telmisartan or Amlodipine
- Pregnancy or are breastfeeding
- Bile duct blockages or severe liver disease
- Low blood pressure, heart failure, or obstructed heart valves
- Severe kidney disease or electrolyte imbalance
✔️ Interaction
Telmisartan: No major issues with paracetamol, warfarin, or simvastatin, but may affect drugs metabolized by CYP2C19 enzyme.
Amlodipine: Safe with many drugs like:
- ACE inhibitors
- Diuretics
- Antibiotics
- Warfarin
- Digoxin
Avoid combining with another ARB or ACE inhibitor without doctor approval.
