✔️ Omenta is used in the management of acid-related disorders such as:

• Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)
• Peptic Ulcer Disease (Gastric & Duodenal Ulcers)
• H. pylori-associated ulcers (as part of combination therapy)
• Erosive Oesophagitis
• Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome
• Acid Dyspepsia
• NSAID-associated gastric irritation or ulcers
• Prophylaxis of acid aspiration during anesthesia

✔️ Side Effects

• Headache
• Nausea, vomiting
• Diarrhea, flatulence
• Abdominal pain
• Dizziness, rash
• Fractures (with prolonged use)
• Hypomagnesemia
• Hepatic effects
• Interstitial nephritis
• Alopecia
• Anaphylaxis (rare, but serious)

✔️ Dosage & Administration

▶️ Adults:

• GERD / Peptic Ulcers / Dyspepsia: 20–40 mg once daily for 4–8 weeks
• NSAID-induced ulcers: 20 mg once daily
• Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: Initial 60 mg once daily, titrated as needed (up to 120 mg/day in divided doses)
• H. pylori eradication: As triple or dual therapy with antibiotics
• Pre-anesthesia prophylaxis: 40 mg the evening before surgery and another 40 mg 2–6 hours before

▶️ Pediatric:

GERD / Erosive Esophagitis (≥1 year):

5–10 kg: 5 mg/day

10–20 kg: 10 mg/day

20 kg: 20 mg/day

Duration: 4–8 weeks

<1 year: Safety not established

✔️ Directions for Use:

• Take on an empty stomach, preferably 1 hour before meals.
• Do not chew or crush capsules. For those unable to swallow, contents may be mixed with applesauce and swallowed immediately.
• Take as soon as remembered. If it’s nearly time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double the dose to make up.

✔️ Interaction

• Reduced absorption: ketoconazole, itraconazole, dasatinib, iron salts
• Increased levels: diazepam, warfarin, phenytoin, methotrexate
• May reduce efficacy: clopidogrel
• Avoid use with: atazanavir, nelfinavir, rilpivirine (reduced antiviral effect)

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

• Category: No known increase in birth defect risk based on available data
• Omeprazole may be present in breast milk; use only if clearly needed
• Consider risk-benefit assessment in pregnant or breastfeeding individuals

✔️ Warnings or Restrictions:

• Long-term use may affect calcium/magnesium levels and bone strength — supplementation may be required.
• Rule out malignancy in patients with gastric ulcers.
• Use with caution in hepatic impairment and during pregnancy/lactation.
• Monitor magnesium levels periodically, especially if used with diuretics or digoxin.
