✔️ Adults:

• Vaginal Candidiasis: 150 mg single dose
• Oropharyngeal Candidiasis: 200 mg on day 1, then 100 mg daily for 14 days
• Esophageal Candidiasis: 200 mg on day 1, then 100 mg daily for 14–30 days
• Tinea infections: 150 mg weekly for 4–6 weeks
• Kerion: 50 mg daily for 20 days
• Pityriasis versicolor: 400 mg single dose
• Onychomycosis: 150 mg weekly for 12 months
• Systemic infections: 400 mg day 1, then 200–400 mg daily
• Prophylaxis: 50–400 mg daily

✔️ Children

Superficial infections: 1–2 mg/kg daily

Systemic infections: 3–6 mg/kg daily (up to 12 mg/kg for severe infections, max 400 mg/day)

✔️ Special populations:

• Elderly: Standard doses unless renal impairment exists
• Renal impairment: Dose intervals adjusted according to creatinine clearance; hemodialysis patients receive one dose after each session

Administration Notes

Fungata can be given orally or intravenously.

Avoid co-administration with antacids, iron supplements, or any solution containing multivalent cations.

Drink adequate fluids during therapy to prevent concentrated urine.

✔️ Side Effects

Common: Nausea, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, flatulence

Rare: Rash, anaphylaxis, hepatic abnormalities, exfoliative skin reactions (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis)

Special caution is required in patients with serious underlying conditions such as AIDS or cancer

✔️ Interactions

• May increase warfarin effect; monitor prothrombin time.
• Can raise serum levels of sulfonylureas, phenytoin, and cyclosporin; monitor for toxicity.
• Rifampicin may reduce fluconazole levels; dose adjustment may be required.
• No clinically significant effect on combined oral contraceptives at standard doses.

✔️ Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to fluconazole or other triazole antifungals.

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

Not recommended during pregnancy or for women of childbearing potential unless necessary

Avoid breastfeeding during therapy as fluconazole passes into milk

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

Monitor liver function in patients with underlying hepatic, renal, or hematological conditions

Discontinue therapy if severe skin reactions occur

Use with caution in elderly or renal-impaired patients; adjust dosing as needed
