Additionally, Mirtazapine’s antagonism at H1 receptors accounts for its sedative effects.
• Pharmacokinetics: After oral intake, Mirtazapine is quickly absorbed and reaches peak plasma levels in about 2 hours. Its half-life is 20-40 hours, which allows for once-daily dosing. Mirtazapine is metabolized primarily by demethylation and oxidation and excreted through urine and feces.

• Adult Dose: The starting dose is 15 mg/day, typically in the evening before sleep. If needed, the dose can be increased up to 30-45 mg/day. Dose adjustments should occur no sooner than every 1-2 weeks to monitor therapeutic response.
• Pediatric Use: Not recommended for children.
• Missed Dose: Take as soon as remembered unless it is close to the next dose; do not double the dose.
