✔️ Composition

500 mg & 200 IU strength:
Each film-coated tablet contains Calcium Carbonate BP (eggshell source) 1250 mg, equivalent to 500 mg elemental calcium, and Vitamin D3 BP 200 IU.

600 mg & 400 IU strength:
Each film-coated tablet contains Calcium Carbonate BP (eggshell source) 1500 mg, equivalent to 600 mg elemental calcium, and Vitamin D3 BP 400 IU.

Osteoporosis induced by long-term use of drugs such as phenytoin, phenobarbital, or corticosteroids (e.g., prednisolone)

Maacal-D contains calcium derived from European eggshell, a natural and eco-friendly source with superior bioavailability. Along with calcium, it provides trace amounts of essential minerals such as magnesium, phosphorus, and strontium, which contribute to bone formation and strength.

This formulation is:

✔️ Drug Interactions

With medicines:
May interact with digoxin, antacids containing calcium/aluminum/magnesium, other calcium supplements, calcitriol, and tetracycline antibiotics (e.g., doxycycline, oxytetracycline). Medical consultation is advised before concurrent use.

With food:
Calcium absorption may be reduced when taken with certain foods such as spinach, milk, and dairy products.

✔️ Maacal-D should not be used in patients with:

• Hypercalcemia or hyperparathyroidism
• Hypercalciuria or kidney stones
• Hypersensitivity to any component
• Severe renal impairment

Concomitant digoxin therapy (requires close monitoring of serum calcium)

✔️ Dosage & Administration

Recommended dose: One tablet in the morning and one tablet at night, or as directed by the physician.
Use in children and adolescents should be based on medical advice.

Maacal-D may be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding only under medical supervision.

Discontinue the medication if hypercalcemia develops
