✔️ Side Effects:

Common side effects include:

• Upper respiratory tract infections.
• Nausea.
• Cough.
• Fever (pyrexia).

✔️ Dosage and Administration:

• The recommended dose is 15 mg once daily.
• It can be taken either monotherapy or in combination with methotrexate or other non-biologic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs).
• Avoid initiation or interruption if:
  • Absolute lymphocyte count is below 500 cells/mm³.
  • Absolute neutrophil count is below 1000 cells/mm³.
  • Hemoglobin level is below 8 g/dL.
• Pediatric Use: Safety and efficacy in children (aged 0-18 years) have not been established.
• Hepatic Impairment: Not recommended for patients with severe hepatic impairment.

✔️ Overdose Effects:

• In clinical trials, doses up to 60 mg extended-release daily showed adverse events similar to lower doses.
• Overdose: Monitor for signs of adverse reactions and treat appropriately. Reucent XR is largely eliminated within 24 hours of dosing.

✔️ Interactions:

• Strong CYP3A4 Inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole) increase Reucent XR exposure. Use with caution in patients receiving chronic treatment with such inhibitors.
• Strong CYP3A4 Inducers (e.g., rifampin) decrease Reucent XR exposure, potentially reducing its therapeutic effect. Avoid co-administration with strong CYP3A4 inducers.

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation:

• Pregnancy: Limited data are available on human use during pregnancy, but based on animal studies, Reucent XR may adversely affect a developing fetus.
• Breastfeeding: It is advised not to breastfeed while using Reucent XR.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings:

• Serious Infections: Avoid use in patients with active, serious infections.
• Malignancy: Carefully consider the risks and benefits before starting treatment in patients with a known malignancy.
• Thrombosis: Evaluate the risks of treatment in patients at higher risk of blood clot formation.
• Gastrointestinal Perforations: Use with caution in patients who are at increased risk.
• Laboratory Monitoring: Monitor lymphocytes, neutrophils, hemoglobin, liver enzymes, and lipids.
• Embryo-Fetal Toxicity: Advise females of reproductive potential about the potential risk to a fetus and to use effective contraception during treatment.
• Vaccinations: Avoid use with live vaccines.
