✔️ Side Effects:

• Hypoglycemia: Most common adverse effect, with symptoms such as hunger, dizziness, sweating, and confusion. Severe hypoglycemia may cause unconsciousness or coma.
• Liver Issues: Uncommon liver dysfunction may cause jaundice (yellow skin/eyes).
• Skin Reactions: Rash, itching, and swelling in some cases.
• Blood Disorders: Rare decrease in blood cells, leading to symptoms like bruising and sore throat.
• Gastrointestinal Issues: Stomach pain, nausea, diarrhea, or constipation.
• Eye Issues: Temporary vision changes, particularly in the early stages of treatment.

✔️ Dosage & Administration:

• Film-coated Tablets: The initial dose is typically 40-80 mg daily, with the possibility of increasing up to 320 mg daily in divided doses based on clinical response. Take it before meals.
• Modified-Release Tablets: The recommended daily dose is 1 to 4 tablets (max 120 mg) taken with a meal, preferably at breakfast. Dosage adjustments may be needed based on individual blood sugar levels.

If combination therapy with other medications (e.g., metformin, insulin) is prescribed, your doctor will adjust each dose appropriately. Contact your healthcare provider if your blood sugar remains high despite following the prescribed regimen.

✔️ Missed Dose:

If you forget a dose, take the next one at the usual time. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.

✔️ Overdose:

In the case of an overdose, symptoms of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) may occur. Immediate treatment with sugar or sugary drinks is essential. If the patient is unconscious, call emergency services immediately, ensuring they receive proper medical attention.

✔️ Interactions:

• Increased Hypoglycemic Effect: Medicines used to treat diabetes (oral antidiabetics, insulin), antibiotics (e.g., sulphonamides), antihypertensive medications (e.g., beta-blockers), antifungal drugs (e.g., miconazole), and certain painkillers (e.g., ibuprofen) may enhance the blood-sugar-lowering effect of Xido, potentially causing hypoglycemia.
• Weakened Effect: Medications like chlorpromazine (for central nervous system disorders), corticosteroids, and certain asthma treatments (e.g., salbutamol) may reduce Xido's blood-glucose-lowering effect.

✔️ Do not take Xido if:

• You are allergic to gliclazide or similar sulfonylurea drugs.
• You have insulin-dependent diabetes (type 1).
• You are in a state of diabetic ketoacidosis, diabetic coma, or pre-coma.
• You have severe liver or kidney disease.

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation:

Xido is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Consult your doctor if pregnant or planning to become pregnant.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings:

• Hypoglycemia Risk: The risk increases with irregular meals, fasting, malnutrition, increased physical activity, or excessive alcohol consumption. Close monitoring is necessary, especially in the early stages of treatment.
