✔️ Dosage & Administration of Glucostat 80

• Immediate-Release Tablet: Start with 40–80 mg orally once daily; gradually adjust to 320 mg/day as needed. Doses above 160 mg/day should be split into two doses.
• Modified-Release Tablet: Start with 30 mg once daily, increasing in 30 mg increments (maximum 120 mg/day), with dose adjustments made at intervals of at least one month. In non-responsive patients, dosage may be increased after two weeks.

It should be taken with or 30 minutes before meals.

Swallow the tablet whole without chewing, breaking, or crushing.
Always take this medicine as directed by your physician.

• Indigestion
• Upset stomach
• Less Common but Serious:
• Vomiting, diarrhea, gastritis

• Liver issues like cholestatic jaundice
• Changes in blood cell counts: leucopenia, thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis, hemolytic anemia
• Elevated liver enzymes

✔️ Interaction

May increase the risk of low blood sugar when taken with:

• Other antidiabetic drugs (e.g., insulin, metformin, acarbose)
• NSAIDs, sulfonamides, clarithromycin
• Beta-blockers, ACE inhibitors, H2-receptor blockers, MAO inhibitors
• Phenylbutazone, miconazole (potentially fatal interaction)

May decrease effectiveness when taken with:

• Glucocorticoids, danazol, chlorpromazine
• Beta-agonists (salbutamol, terbutaline, ritodrine)
• May enhance the effect of warfarin, increasing bleeding risk

• Type 1 diabetes mellitus
• Diabetic ketoacidosis
• Severe liver or kidney dysfunction
• Known allergy to gliclazide or sulfonylureas
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding
