✔️ Mode of Action:
Zinc acts as a cofactor in over 100 enzymes, supports DNA synthesis, a healthy immune system, and maintains senses of smell and taste. It also aids in insulin function.
✔️ Side Effects:
- Common: Nausea, vomiting, headache, drowsiness, gastric ulcer, metallic taste.
- Less Common: Diarrhea, stomach upset, heartburn, gastritis.
✔️ Dosage Administration:
- Dispersible Tablet: Dissolve the tablet in a teaspoon of water before administration.
- General Administration: Most effective if taken 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals. Can be taken with meals if stomach upset occurs.
✔️ Interactions:
- Tetracyclines and Quinolones: Concomitant use may decrease the absorption of both antibiotics and Zinc.
- Penicillamine: Concurrent administration may decrease Zinc absorption.
✔️ Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to Zinc or any component of the preparation.
✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation:
- The safety of human pregnancy is not established. Zinc crosses the placenta and is present in breast milk.
✔️ Warnings:
In acute renal failure, zinc accumulation can occur, necessitating dose adjustments.
✔️ Storage Conditions:
- Store in a dry place away from light and heat. Keep out of the reach of children.
