✔️ Dosage & Administration

(CoQ10 should be taken with meals containing fats for better absorption)

• CoQ10 Deficiency: 150 mg daily
• Mitochondrial Disorders: 150-160 mg or 2 mg/kg/day
• Heart Failure: 100 mg/day (divided into 2-3 doses)
• Post-Myocardial Infarction: 120 mg/day (divided into 2 doses)
• High Blood Pressure: 120-200 mg/day (divided into 2 doses)
• Isolated Systolic Hypertension: 60 mg twice daily
• Migraine Prevention: 100 mg three times daily
• Parkinson’s Disease: 300 mg – 2400 mg/day (divided into 3-4 doses)
• Male Infertility: 200-300 mg/day
• Muscular Dystrophy: 100 mg/day

Note: Taking CoQ10 in smaller divided doses instead of a single large dose helps reduce side effects.

✔️ Side Effects:

• Generally safe for most adults but may cause mild side effects:
  • Gastrointestinal discomfort: Stomach upset, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
  • Loss of appetite
  • Allergic skin reactions (rash in some individuals)

✔️ Drug Interactions:

• Statins: Reduce endogenous CoQ10 levels. Supplementation may restore normal levels without affecting statin efficacy.
• Warfarin: CoQ10 may reduce warfarin’s effectiveness – monitor INR levels closely.
• Beta-blockers (especially Propranolol): May inhibit CoQ10-dependent enzymes.
• Antidiabetic Medications: CoQ10 may improve blood sugar control, requiring dose adjustments of diabetes medications.
• Doxorubicin: CoQ10 may reduce doxorubicin’s cardiotoxicity.

✔️ Contraindications:

• Hypersensitivity to CoQ10 or any of its ingredients.
• Surgery: Avoid CoQ10 at least 2 weeks before surgery as it may affect blood pressure and clotting.

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation:

• Not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to insufficient safety data.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings:

• May lower blood sugar levels – caution in diabetics and hypoglycemic patients.
• May reduce blood pressure – use cautiously in hypotensive patients or those on blood pressure medication.
