Indications of Clindacin 150 Capsule

An antibiotic that fights bacteria is called Clindacin 150. Acne, which manifests as spots or pimples on your face, chest, or back, is treated with it. The bacteria that cause these pimples are attacked by this medication. Clindacin 150 should only be applied externally, and you should follow your doctor's instructions.

Pharmacology of Clindacin 150 Capsule

Clindamycin is indicated for the treatment of severe infections brought on by susceptible anaerobic bacteria, as well as susceptible staphylococci, streptococci, and pneumococci. It is available in oral and parenteral formulations. 14,15 It is available in combination with benzoyl peroxide 10 or tretinoin 11 for the topical treatment of acne vulgaris, which is indicated for use in the treatment of acne vulgaris12,18,16. Clindamycin is also recommended for the treatment of bacterial vaginosis in females who are not pregnant as a vaginal cream 13 or suppository 17. Clindamycin is used as antimicrobial prophylaxis against Viridans group streptococcal infections in susceptible patients having oral, dental, or upper respiratory surgery. It may also be used as a prophylaxis against bacterial endocarditis in patients with penicillin allergies who are at a high risk of contracting these infections.

Dosage & Administration of Clindacin 150 Capsule

Dosage of Clindamycin Capsule:

• Infections that are serious: 150 mg to 300 mg every six hours.
• Infections that are more severe: 300 mg–450 mg every six hours.
• Clindacin capsules should be taken with a full glass of water to reduce the risk of oesophageal irritation.
• According to numerous studies, a 300 mg capsule of clindamycin maintains a plasma concentration above MIC90 for more than 12 hours. The 300 mg Clindacin capsule should be taken twice daily, especially in cases of SSTIs and RTIs, according to this finding. Clindamycin dosage for diabetic foot infections, however, should be 300 mg capsules taken three to four times per day.
   

Interaction of Clindacin 150 Capsule

The effectiveness of other neuromuscular blockers is increased by clindamycin. In patients who are taking such medications, it should therefore be used with caution. It has been demonstrated in vitro that erythromycin and clindamycin interact negatively. There is a chance that using these two medications at the same time could lead to clinical complications.

Contraindications

Clindamycin is not recommended for patients who have previously tested positive for clindamycin or any of its components.

Side Effects of Clindacin 150 Capsule

Abdominal discomfort, oesophagitis, and oesophageal ulcer, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, pruritus, skin rashes, and urticaria have all been described as side effects of clindamycin usage.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Pregnancy Classification B. Clindamycin is a drug that can pass through the placenta in humans. Amniotic fluid concentrations were around 30% of maternal amounts after several dosages. Clindamycin should only be taken during pregnancy if absolutely necessary. It has been reported that clindamycin can be found in breast milk. As a result, unless absolutely necessary, it is not suggested for breastfeeding moms.

Precautions & Warnings

Clindamycin should be used with care in people who have had gastrointestinal problems, especially colitis.
