Biotin, also known as vitamin H, plays a crucial role in various physiological functions, including fatty acid synthesis, amino acid catabolism, and gluconeogenesis. It acts as a cofactor in enzymatic reactions, particularly in carboxylation processes. Biotin is essential for the growth and differentiation of epidermal cells, making it important for the health of skin, hair, and nails. It serves as a coenzyme for mitochondrial carboxylases in hair roots and helps improve the structure of keratin. Biotin deficiency can lead to hair loss and systemic symptoms such as dermatitis and aciduria. As a result, biotin is commonly prescribed as a nutritional supplement for various types of hair loss.

✔️ Dosage and Administration of Bioprem 1:

• Adults: Generally, take 1-3 tablets per day or as directed by a physician.
• Children: Biotin deficiency in children, which typically occurs between 1 week and 2 years of age, may manifest as seizures, hypotonia, developmental delay, ataxia, hyperventilation, and coma. In such cases, the recommended dose is 5-10 tablets daily, crushed and mixed with water or fruit juice, or as advised by a physician.

Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for Biotin:

Infants:

• 0-6 months: 5 mcg/day
• 7-12 months: 6 mcg/day

Children:

• 1-3 years: 8 mcg/day
• 4-8 years: 12 mcg/day

Males and Females:

• 9-13 years: 20 mcg/day
• 14-18 years: 25 mcg/day
• ≥19 years: 30 mcg/day

Pregnancy: 30 mcg/day

Lactation: 35 mcg/day

✔️ Interactions:

• Some anticonvulsant drugs may reduce the plasma levels of biotin.
• Antibiotic use might decrease the contribution of biotin to the body from the microflora in the large intestine.
• Excessive consumption of raw egg whites can interfere with biotin absorption.

✔️ Contraindications:

Bioprem 1 is contraindicated in individuals with a known hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients.

✔️ Side Effects:

• Biotin is generally well tolerated at recommended doses. There have been no reported cases of biotin toxicity in individuals taking up to 200 mg orally or 20 mg intravenously per day.

✔️ Pregnancy and Lactation:

• There is insufficient clinical data available to determine the safety of biotin supplementation in pregnant women and lactating mothers.
