Nitromint Nitroglycerin Aerosol

✔️ Dosage

• During an Angina Attack: Administer 1 or 2 sprays under the tongue.
• Maximum Dosage: Do not exceed 3 sprays within 15 minutes.
• Preventative Use: The spray can be used 5-10 minutes before activities that may trigger angina.
  Seek immediate medical attention if chest pain persists.

✔️ Administration Instructions

• Angina patients should always carry Nitroglycerin Spray and keep an extra supply at home.
• This spray is not for routine use—it should only be used at the onset of chest pain.
• Avoid alcohol consumption after using the medication.
• Do not take sildenafil, vardenafil, or tadalafil while using Nitroglycerin, as it may cause dangerously low blood pressure, unconsciousness, heart attack, or death.
• Keep out of reach of children.

✔️ Excessive Nitromint intake can lead to:

• Severe low blood pressure, headache, dizziness, palpitations, visual disturbances, nausea, vomiting, fainting, cyanosis (bluish skin), difficulty breathing, slow heart rate, and possibly coma.

Methemoglobinemia: Rare but can occur, particularly in individuals with a genetic predisposition.

✔️ How to Use Nitroglycerin Spray

1. Sit down if possible when experiencing angina symptoms.
2. Remove the plastic cap but do not shake the bottle.
3. Hold the spray upright with the index finger on the button.
4. Open your mouth and bring the spray close to it, aiming under the tongue.
5. Press the button slowly to spray under the tongue.
6. Close your mouth and avoid swallowing immediately. Do not drink water for 5-10 minutes after administration.
7. If needed, repeat steps 3-6 for a second dose.
8. Replace the plastic cap after use.

✔️ Drug Interactions

• Alcohol: Can cause severe low blood pressure and fainting.
• Dihydroergotamine: Nitromint may increase its bioavailability.
• Other Medications: Combining with calcium channel blockers, phenothiazines, or tricyclic antidepressants may lead to orthostatic hypotension (low blood pressure when standing).

✔️ Do not use Nitromint if you have:

• An allergy to nitrates or any component of the formulation.
• Low blood pressure, severe anemia, brain hemorrhage, or head trauma.
• Mitral valve stenosis or hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy.
• Taken erectile dysfunction medications (PDE-5 inhibitors).

✔️ Some users may experience:

• Headache, facial flushing, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, weakness, low blood pressure, and rapid heartbeat.

✔️ Treatment for Overdose

1. Keep the patient lying down in a shock position and ensure warmth.
2. Encourage venous return by moving the patient’s limbs passively.
3. Administer oxygen and perform artificial ventilation if needed.
4. If methemoglobinemia occurs, methylene blue (1%) at 1-2 mg/kg IV may be required.
5. If recently swallowed, gastric lavage (stomach pumping) may help.

✔️ Use During Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

• Classified as Pregnancy Category C, meaning its safety in pregnant women is not well established.
• It is uncertain if nitroglycerin passes into breast milk, so caution is advised for nursing mothers.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

• Use cautiously during the early phase of a heart attack, with close monitoring of blood pressure and heart function.
• Patients with kidney or liver disease, hypothyroidism, malnutrition, or low body temperature should use Nitromint carefully.
