✔️ Dosage Guidelines

Adults:

Nutritional Deficiency:

• 200–400 IU/day (5–10 mcg).

Osteoporosis (Prophylaxis and Treatment, >50 years):

• 800–1000 IU/day (20–25 mcg) with calcium supplements.

Hypoparathyroidism:

• 50,000–200,000 IU/day (0.625–5 mg) with calcium supplements.

Children:

Nutritional Supplementation (RDA):

• 0–12 months: 400 IU/day (10 mcg).
• 1–18 years: 600 IU/day (15 mcg).

Vitamin D-Resistant Rickets:

• 12,000–500,000 IU/day (0.3–12.5 mg).

Familial Hypophosphatemia:

• 40,000–80,000 IU/day (1–2 mg) with phosphate supplements.

• Oral or IM: This may be taken with or without food.

3. Counteraction:
   • By corticosteroids.
4. Other Considerations:
   • Reduced absorption when taken with cholestyramine, colestipol, mineral oil, or orlistat.
   • Interaction with digoxin or cardiac glycosides.
   • Ketoconazole may interfere.
